  • For fifty years, First Presbyterian Church Preschool has provided an exceptional preschool experience for thousands of children in the greater Tacoma area.

Key to our longevity and success is our commitment to growth and excellence that, along with the listed characteristics, make FPP a distinctive choice for preschool:

    • FPP embraces a culture where school is not just a place to attend, but a community where each family belongs.
    • We minister as an extension of the family so that the home and preschool can work side by side for the benefit of the child.
    • The longevity of our teaching team speaks to the level of dedication each one brings to our school. Both our teaching team and our administrative team take pride in the programs we offer as well as the service we provide each family.
    • We have a generational impact—we are now seeing children of former preschool students attending our preschool. This means their parents, and often the grandparents, are all participants in our community.
    • With over 160 children this year, FPP is the largest preschool in the Tacoma area.
    • Being voted Best Preschool from South Sound Magazine in 2014, 2016, 2017, and 2020 is validation that our Christ-centered program stands out among area preschools.
    • It’s thrilling to me when a bond is created that says, ‘I trust you.’ That’s when the rubber hits the road for me as a teacher. That’s when i have to make sure they know i see how unique and capable they are. That’s when i get to help them understand that the creator of the universe loves them and formed them with these unique qualities because of the special future he has planned for them; that with God all things are possible.

  • A carefully supervised and balanced program is offered to assist each child in their learning process. We Recognize that children at this stage learn through play. As each student progresses from year to year in our program, the focus gradually shifts to an emphasis on academic skills. This helps ensure our students success in Kindergarten and beyond.

With a holistic method in mind, our program includes varied activities of play, reading readiness, math, music appreciation, stories, creative art, science, health, and physical activity. All of these activities, approached through the lens of God’s love, work together to provide an educational experience of lasting value impacting the physical, mental, spiritual and emotional development of your child.
